The tournament was started in 2010 after the Jester Organization identified that Squash as a sport was losing many players who had excelled at school level, but found that there was no linked structure to senior Squash. The result was a lack of younger players in the top echelons of the sport. The Jesters sponsor tournaments in Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Johannesburg and KZN for players aged 23 and younger. In the last series, on the advice of Steve Coppinger, the entry age was lowered to 14 in order to get youth into these competing environs from an early age. Players such as Michael Wood and Christo Potgieter have come through the U23 series and give much credit for their later success to the tournaments. The Gauteng tournament will be played on the 20th to 22nd April at the Country Club Johannesburg Auckland Park. Entry fee R130.
